Trabuco Canyon

The design intent for this project was to create clean, contemporary lines with warm, natural material, for a straight-forward, active, and artistic family. The modern pool and straight lines of the hardscape juxtapose with the UV Verde lawn (since replaced with another lawn type) and informal plantings. The gardens are composed of two levels: an upper more human-habitated landscape with the pool, fireplace, and covered dining area, and a lower level with a decomposed granite path and meadow plantings. All stormwater is kept onsite and infiltrated into the groundwater. Several years later the front yard was redesigned to match the aesthetic of the back yard. The colors and materials are earth-toned and soothing. This project was featured on Sunset Magazine’s blog in August 2011.
