This repeat client called us in to remedy a quick flip hardscape and landscape design that muddied the clean lines of the modernist architecture. Thick slabs of vein cut travertine for the entry walkway and cantilevered steps with strip lighting provide warmth and a natural tactile feeling. The entry planting consists of densely planted Mediterranean plants that provide year-round visual interest. A Japanese-influenced roof garden on top of the gym gives the owner a beautiful view from her bedroom, and balcony planters (including a Willy Guhl from Inner Gardens https://innergardens.com) match the subdued, clean interior design by Cliff Fong https://www.mattblackeinc.com. A whimsical treehouse, courtyard climbing wall, and planted wall complete the unique design.
