These two projects in the South Bay are focused on creating usable and attractive entertainment spaces in highly constricted spaces. The primary goal for the Redondo Beach pool project was to create a comfortable, Mediterranean styled oasis for the owners to relax and entertain in after working long hours. A lap/play pool with waterfalls and spa is the focal point of the back yard, set along the side property line long axis to maximize space. Malibu Ceramic Works tile is used for the spa exterior and steps risers in front and back yards, while a custom stained plaster fireplace with side sofa next to the dining and outdoor kitchen create a cozy place to relax. At the Riviera site, this project creates a visual continuation of the home’s interior, extending the living space into the narrow back yard. The entire side yard was recouped by creating terraced levels for multi-use. A perimeter overflow spa is set along the long axis and lowered 12” to create more depth and distance to the property. Neutral travertine and smooth stucco lend classic elegance to the exterior spaces which include a built -n barbecue and firepit.
